Budding entrepreneur with a social conscience

Congratulations to Gian Espeleta from the Philippines who was awarded a $5,000 scholarship from Victoria University of Wellington in December 2019 to contribute towards the fees for his first year of undergraduate study commencing in February 2020.

He chose the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies programme after advice from his older sister who completed the programme in 2018.

“My sister told me about the opportunities, flexible programmes, the good reputation of the university and how well International students are supported”

Gian successfully completed the Fast Track Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies programme in 2019 and found the experience extremely rewarding. At the award ceremony held at the UP International College Campus in Wellington, Gian congratulated his classmates and thanked the teachers and support staff.

“Congratulations to us all, we earned this moment.  And we also learned the values of courage to get through anything, the conscientiousness to give our best, the endurance to reach our aspirations, the resilience to improve, and the excellence to keep soaring higher and higher. Teachers, thank you very much for guiding us to make it through our foundation year. Thank you so much for the patience of teaching and preparing us for university”

Gian will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in International Business and Marketing at Victoria University of Wellington and has ambitions to create a successful global business in the future that helps less fortunate members of society.  Gian believes that study at UP International College prepared him well for his University study.

“The teachers were helpful all the time. They are very hands-on and helped us slowly get used to the completely new environment. The location of the college is ideal, close to the city and so easy to get to school and visit other places after school”

Gian has good advice for International students coming to study with UP Education in New Zealand
“Go out, get to know other people, they have a rich culture and background. Explore, New Zealand has some amazing sights”
