The timetable has 30 periods of 80 minutes each and allows for breaks at different times of the day when students are not in class. All students have a half hour break at lunchtime.

The University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies has 18 to 20 periods (24 to 27 hours) of teaching per week, including:

  • 6 x periods of lessons per subject plus English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
  • Students in the standard one year foundation take two academic subjects per semester. Fast Track students take four academic subjects of four periods per week for the duration of their course, plus 4 period of EAP.
