Pre-Masters Program

The Pre-Masters Program prepares international students to meet the entry criteria for selected University of Tasmania postgraduate degrees. The course develops advanced skills in academic writing, research, critical thinking and intercultural communication. Successful completion of this program allows students to enter Masters programs at the Tasmanian School of Business & Economics (TSBE), the University of Tasmania’s Business faculty.

University of Tasmania International Pathway College is where these programs are delivered and is based at the Sandy Bay Campus in Hobart, Tasmania.


Program delivery

  • Most course content delivered face to face in lecture theatres and tutorial classrooms
  • Additional content delivered as talks, presentations and tours by university staff, past students and student union representatives
  • Web-based course management tool provides access to learning materials at any time

Program structure

  • Two semesters over 26 weeks
    • 13-week Bridging Semester focuses on developing academic knowledge and skills
    • 13-week Discipline-specific Semester focuses on developing discipline-specific (Business) knowledge and skills
  • A 50% overall grade in each unit is required to successfully complete the program.


English-language requirements

Applicants must be able to demonstrate IELTS 5.5 (min. 5.5 in all bands), or equivalent.

Academic requirements
